The next meeting of the FLBClub is the AGM taking place on Thursday 25th April at the WWII Museum at Coleshill courtesy of the National Trust. The meeting will start at 7pm with networking and complimentary refreshments and, after the business of the meeting, members and their guests will enjoy a tour of the underground bunker to hear a little bit about its history.
Unknown to local villagers, Coleshill House was requisitioned during the war to become Winston Churchill’s top secret training headquarters for the British Resistance or Auxiliary Unit. In peacetime, the Auxiliers had been farmers, mechanics, gamekeepers, butchers, labourers or miners but, in wartime, they became part of a hush-hush network of spies and saboteurs to keep their country safe in the event of invasion.
The FLBClub will visit the original underground training bunker and find out about the extraordinary lives of the Auxiliers, who learned how to set booby traps and use explosives.
After the tour, a fish and chip supper will be served courtesy of The Cotswold Chippy. Booking is essential for this meeting via www.flbc.org.uk/Events and non-members are welcome. The meeting is free to attend, a fish and chip supper costs £5.
Don’t forget to bring along your leaflets and business cards to hand out during the networking.
