Free Workshops from The Cirencester Growth Hub
The holiday season is approaching, so if you’re in business and planning to take a vacation or staycation, we wondered what the best business advice books might be to take with you to the beach.
Here are some suggestions from Yesim Nicholson, Cirencester Growth Hub manager, and our three Business Navigators – Deb Govier, Stephen Meyer and Eva Tunez Salvador.
Deb selected ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad: What the Rich Teach Their Kids About Money That the Poor and Middle Class Do Not!’ by Robert T. Kiyosaki. Deb said: “I just enjoyed understanding different ways of thinking about life and it is all based on how the way you act and what you put in at the start leads to success later on.”
Stephen picked ‘Gung Ho’, by Ken Blanchard and Sheldon Bowles. He said: “I find this book quite inspirational in terms of working together as a team.”
Eva’s selection was ‘Take Your Shot’ by Gloucestershire-based business coach Robin Waite, which she also translated into Spanish. “The author uses a real case study using a story format and any business can relate to it. It can be read in 90 minutes and I just find it really motivating.”
Finally, Yesim opted for Malcolm Gladwell’s ‘The Tipping Point’ because it gives “insight into the complex way in which a brand or initiative reaches the tipping point”.
Cirencester Growth Hub is next to the Royal Agricultural University and is part of the wider Gloucestershire Growth Hub network and supports new and growing businesses. A range of events and workshops are staged every month, all of which are free to Gloucestershire-based businesses. There is also co-working space, available on a pay-as-you-go or membership basis.
Free events in July include workshops on
‘How to be a better leader’ (10th July)
‘How to design a killer marketing plan’ (17th July)
‘How to manage employee absence’ (24th July).
Also, during August, we are offering our three meetings rooms for hire for free on a limited basis of one booking per company. Happy holidays!
