We’ve written before about how co-working spaces help combat isolation for business people, especially those who are sole traders or working in rural areas. So we thought we’d ask one of our members to explain how using a co-working space has helped.
Alasdair McCormick runs Canopy Construction, which creates work spaces using ethical and sustainable construction techniques.“Co-working spaces like the Growth Hub are such an asset to anyone flying solo in business. I have been there, working on the kitchen table with drawings and designs spread all over the place. I soon found that my levels of production had plummeted and the ‘fun of it’ had fallen away. I soon decided I needed to change my environment and joined the Growth Hub. Being surrounded by such positive and energetic people, my motivation rocketed. No matter what is happening, whether it’s a great success or complete disaster, there is always someone who has felt the same, this makes for an amazing sense of camaraderie. With such a melting pot of ideas and inspiration, you are never far away from someone to bounce ideas off and, likewise, don’t be surprised if people ask for your thoughts on their ideas. Everyone shares in the success of the community and support when it gets challenging. It may be just you on the payroll, but it feels like you have an office full of people to help.”
In other news, our April Wellness Week was a great success, which saw business people trying out all sorts of new ways to help them relax, de-stress and focus.
