Wrag Barn Golf Club was closed on 23rd March in line with instructions from the Government for everyone to stay at home and reduce the spread of Covid-19.
In response to Government Coronavirus wage support, we have furloughed most of our staff, but maintained our green keepers, who are allowed to carry out essential maintenance on the course.
There is no doubt that our keyworkers and NHS staff are putting in a huge amount of effort and there are many cases of self-sacrifice as families live apart to protect those who are vulnerable.
We were contacted by a neighbour, who wanted to test some software for his drone on the golf course and, as it was a Thursday morning, we decided to write a message to all the NHS staff on our 18th green in golf balls. A group of volunteers spent two hours marshalling 2,500 golf balls and Andy Cooke from CG Labs took some wonderful images.
Huge thanks to everyone who took part, it was wonderful to enjoy a positive collaboration and we were proud of the results.
