Another chance to learn about GDPR
As the forthcoming GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is such an important issue and some people were not able to attend our meeting in November that covered this issue, we are providing another chance to attend and learn what your business needs to do to be compliant or face huge fines!
Kellie Peters of Databasix will give another presentation about GDPR on Thursday 22nd March at 8am at Wrag Barn Golf Club, Highworth SN6 7QQ.
It is believed that as many as 80% of businesses are not prepared for the new General Data Protection Regulation, which come into force in May.
GDPR sets new standards for the storage, collection, distribution and usage of all personal information and data pertaining to a company’s customers.
Up to 20 million Euros, or 4% of a company’s total revenue of the preceding year, whichever is greater, could be the price to pay by any company that is found to be in breach after the May 25 deadline.
Not only do the GDPR guidelines mean a company needs to be able to comply with the regulations pertaining to storing and using their data, they must also be able to prove their compliance in a demonstrable way if asked to do so, including processes and security measures taken.
It is worrying that with the impending deadline, most businesses still aren’t ready for the changes. It seems that there is still much confusion on how companies can prepare for GDPR.
