The FLBClub is getting a reputation

Many people have asked how the FLBClub manages to organise such great Club meetings in fabulous venues with superb hospitality. The answer is that many businesses enjoy showing off their premises to other business folk and are only too happy to welcome our Club members. The FLBClub is now getting a reputation for organising interesting and useful networking meetings in fabulous venues.

For the November meeting, members were treated to a tour of Arkells’ Brewery in Swindon. We were treated to a welcome local gin, run or beer on arrival and then Alex Arkell, Head Brewer, gave members an interesting 15 minute talk on the history of the successful family business that goes back six generations.

Tasting timeThen, it was time for tastings and we enjoyed savouring the flavour of a small glass of IPA, beer and lager.

Next, a short walk across the courtyard to the brewing area, where we learned about the brewing process, saw the hops, barley, Mush Tun, Brewing Vats and Yeast Room. The aroma was intoxicating!

Back to the Grape & Grain Shop where we had a lovely buffet and the opportunity to buy souvenirs and gifts.

Members in the Grape & Grain ShopThe shop is open during normal shop hours and anyone can just go along and buy a huge variety of beers, lagers, whiskey, gin, run, etc. It is worth going to the shop alone just to get some unusual and unique Christmas presents. No appointment necessary. Just call in.

The FLBClub would like to sincerely thank the Arkells’ team for their hospitality and the opportunity to visit their successful and historic brewery.
