Lechlade residents and visitors were treated to an afternoon of steam when 12 steam boats, an electric vessel and a vintage diesel boat descended on The Riverside Inn. The Arkell’s Brewery pub was included in a river trip organised by David Howard of the Consuta Trust and David Avery of The Steam Boat Association. A series of river competitions were put on for the public on Sunday 2nd June.
“It gives the public a chance to see steam boats in action on the Thames” said organizer, David Avery. “The rain came in, but did not dampen our spirits. Big thanks to The Riverside Inn’s managers, Will and Ayesha, as well as Ian from Lechlade Marina” he added.
Julie Moss of Arkell’s Brewery said: “Will and Ayesha are trying to bring something different to The Riverside and. over the last couple of months. we have seen live music, a history weekend and now steamboats. The pizza shack is now up and running in the garden. so it is an excellent time to come and discover The Riverside Inn or to come back for another visit.”
