We are not messing about on the river

Hello to everyone at the end of what has been perfect weather for boating this Spring!

Sadly, like other businesses, Cotswold Boat Hire have not been open for boat hire over Easter or for the May Bank Holiday. However, we have been very busy getting private boats launched and ready for the day when they can eventually get out on the water.

It is quite difficult to plan at the moment. Currently the river is closed to navigation other than emergency trips and one-off trips for boats to move to their summer home moorings. The locks are not manned and the shoals and navigation hazards are not marked. Despite our hire side being closed, our office is open so, if you want to talk through plans for later in the Summer or next year, you can call or email us.

We are working on social distancing handovers for when we can offer you a hire, as getting out and about might be high on everyone’s agenda. It may well be we can only offer boats to family groups or associated groups. We are working with the guidelines on that. The day boats are every easy to sanitise thoroughly, so will be a safe environment. However it is also very likely – at least for the time being – that the pubs en-route will not be open, so it will be a case of ‘bring your own bottle’ and a picnic!

As it stands, it is likely we will be concentrating on day hires and short breaks only rather than holidays. We don’t know for sure when or if we will be able to open but, as soon as we can, we will be ready!

Gift vouchers are available for future use. We hope you are all keeping safe and well.
